Some consider Wilmington Oktoberfest Wilmington's biggest party of the year. But it is also a family and community celebration that blends time-honored German festivities with the charm of small-town America.
Oktoberfest features traditional German polka, as well as various other styles of music. There is usually a live band on Saturday evening.
Come hungry, and sample a variety of authentic German foods prepared by those of German heritage:
Smoked pork chops
Beer and wine booth
Non-alcoholic beverages are also plenty available.
For kids, bouncy houses and slides line the surrounding streets, and you will usually find a small train ride too. Games and a new video game truck will also be on-site.
Adults can test their skills at one of many games of chance including Adult Monte Carlo tournaments. Also look forward to a Cruise-In Car Show and a 5K race.
