To Travel or Not To Travel in Southwest Ohio & Beyond

Well, I’m going out on a limb here and admitting that even though I represent a travel destination I don’t believe parents should take their children out of school to travel.  That’s what summer vacation, spring break and Christmas break are for, aren’t they?  When my daughter was growing up, her dad and I were committed to making sure that she was in school whenever it was in session.  We always believed that education was a two-way street and a partnership between the student and the educator(s).  That’s not to say that we didn’t travel, as we did, a lot!  Rest assured we knew we had to plan in advance for those days off so we could have a guilt-free trip to a new place and our daughter wouldn’t have to worry about catching up on class work and home work.

Now, I’ll admit that I may not be taking a favorable stance as it seems there is little regard by parents these days for scheduled school days.  For that reason I will share a study with you that takes a different stance.  Check it out and see what you think.

Maybe there’s some middle ground in making a travel decision.  The following article makes some very valid points.

You’ve read different viewpoints.  Where do you stand?  I’d be interested in hearing from you.
