The Clinton County Historical Society maintains this county museum which houses sculptures and paintings by world-renowned Quaker artist Eli Harvey and a collection of Quaker clothing dating back to 1820. Genealogies and histories important to the area are also housed in the former residence of General James W. Denver. Denver was known throughout America. After he left Clinton County he became a senator from California, secretary of state, and commissioner for Indian Affairs for President James Buchanan. Denver was immortalized in Colorado when the state capitol was named after him.
